The property development and planning group is one of the largest teams of lawyers at FSP and this reflects the very significant demand for this type of work in the Thames Valley and beyond. Pressure for additional housing in the region as well as continuing commercial growth along the M4 corridor means that this group has considerable experience in a wide range of property development work. The group consists of lawyers from a variety of legal backgrounds, from mainstream property lawyers to lawyers specialising in planning law and banking. We understand the importance of being able to provide a full service to our developer clients effectively and at a reasonable cost. We have many contacts with other professionals working in this field (surveyors, agents, banks, architects, quantity surveyors) and we use these contacts where appropriate to assist clients as the need arises. The work handled by the group includes acting for developers buying sites then through to set-up and plot sales; dealing with finance and security documentation; acting for developers and landowners taking and granting options; dealing with overage agreements; acting on design and build projects; liaising with our construction group for advice on building contracts, professional appointments, warranties and guarantees and assignments of the benefit of design and planning drawings and professional reports; advising on planning and section 106 planning agreements. The group acts for a range of
clients, from individuals selling back gardens to developers big and
small and housing corporations active in the development business.
