Our personal insolvency group has an excellent reputation in the market and our specialist solicitors are frequently called upon to advise on bankruptcies and individual voluntary arrangements (IVAs).  Working for insolvency practitioners, creditors and debtors, we provide a highly practical and cost-effective service covering bankruptcies, IVAs and professional partnerships.  We also have a particular expertise in dealing with the matrimonial home and we receive referrals from insolvency practitioners to act for the spouses of debtors.

The group offers a wide range of services including defending statutory demands, bankruptcy annulments, trustees' remuneration applications, possession and sale of the matrimonial home, advising on preference claims and transactions at undervalue, advising on termination and variation of IVAs and advising on bankruptcy restriction orders.

The personal insolvency group deals with many different types of insolvency situations and has significant experience in the following areas:

  • bringing bankruptcy proceedings
  • bankruptcy annulment applications
  • applications to vary income payment orders
  • challenging trustees’ remuneration
  • applications to lift bankruptcy stays
  • acting for IVA supervisors
  • applications for possession and sale of bankrupt’s property
