New year breakfast briefing
FSP and CIPD ring in the changes.
Our thanks to all who attended our New Year Breakfast Seminar, held in conjunction with CIPD, on Tuesday 13 January at Green Park. With a fantastic turn-out of senior management and key HR professionals and a delicious hot breakfast on arrival, not even the M4 madness could dampen enthusiasm for some early morning networking before the seminar got underway.
Ian Machray, Partner and head of FSP’s employment team, then took our attendees on a whistle-stop tour of the latest developments in employment law, beginning with a practical look at both the complex new shared parental leave provisions and important recent case law developments concerning the seemingly ever-shifting concept of ‘holiday pay’. Having flagged changes to adoption leave and a challenge to the UK’s position on collective redundancy consultation, Ian then donned his mystic’s robes to offer an opinion on what a change in government might mean for employment law in this general election year.
Plenty of time for discussion and an opportunity to speak privately with the team afterwards ensured no question remained unanswered and feed back from attendees proved the session to be a hit: “an excellent overview of legal developments” and a “very pleasant, quick way to get a practical update”.
