Catherine Whitaker joined the firm as a trainee solicitor and on qualification joined the wills trusts and estates team. Catherine deals with a wide range of matters, including will drafting, estate administration, inheritance tax planning, and the preparation of statutory declarations. Catherine is also experienced in providing advice on lasting powers of attorney, preparing the documents themselves, and registering lasting powers of attorney both for property and financial affairs, and also health and welfare decisions. Catherine also advises on the registration of enduring powers of attorney and she provides advice to attorneys already acting for a donor.
Catherine has experience of complex estate administration and frequently obtains grants of probate for clients taking advantage of our probate application service.
Catherine deals with the day-to-day administration of many of our deputyship files and has regular dealings with the Court of Protection. She also acts as a deputy herself for several clients who do not have the mental capacity to look after their own financial affairs. Catherine assists clients wishing to apply to the Court of Protection to be appointed as deputies themselves and is also experienced at preparing the annual accounts required by the Court of Protection.
Catherine is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
