This role is based within our Commercial team, but will require you to work closely with the wider Business Services Team and our contentious construction solicitors on business development activities.

This role will be ideal for someone who wishes to develop a non-contentious construction law practice, whilst still having the opportunity to undertake a range of other commercial work.  You will have the opportunity work with highly experienced partners in contentious and non-contentious construction work and have the ability to progress quickly with the growth of the practice.

We would expect a strong background in advising on construction law matters, including JCT and NEC contracts, together with general commercial contract knowledge.  We will expect you to be able to demonstrate a commitment to this area of law.

We are seeking a Team Administrator to support our busy Business Services Team.

Role

You will provide administrative support within our growing Business Services Team, which includes our Commercial, IP & Technology, Dispute Resolution & Litigation, Construction, Employment and Immigration lawyers.

You will take proactive responsibility for administrative functions within the team allowing our lawyers to provide an excellent service to our clients.  You will also have client-facing responsibilities and will be expected to help us build strong personal relationships with our clients based on the quality of your communications and professional approach.

We aim for excellence in the service we provide.  We will accordingly expect you to aim for the same in your dealings with our clients and in the support you provide to our lawyers.

Our team cannot properly function without effective and professional administrative support – this role will be critical to the ongoing success and growth of the team.

Responsibilities will include:

• Handling new client enquiries
• Assisting with client on-boarding, including regulatory and compliance requirements
• Aiding our lawyers with our invoicing processes
• Proactively managing outstanding invoices or compliance matters
• Assisting with expenses claims
• Working effectively with other administrative and support staff
• Managing diaries and meeting/travel organisation
• Communicating by email and telephone with clients and other professionals
• Assisting with the team’s financial reporting, including spreadsheet production
• Supporting business development and marketing activities
• Proactive management of client and marketing databases
• Organising our file closure processes, including obtaining client feedback
• Other ad hoc tasks required by the team

Qualifications and experience

In summary, you need excellent administration and strong communication skills.  A legal background is not essential but preferable.

We are a highly regarded and established firm based in Reading, renowned for delivering exceptional legal support to an impressive portfolio of regional, national, and international clients.

Our Corporate Team assists a wide range of companies, partnerships, entrepreneurs and individuals with the legal work relating to buying, selling, financing and restructuring businesses. The team is looking for an experienced paralegal to assist its six partners and other solicitors. The work will be varied but will include:

• Setting up and managing online Data Rooms;
• Preparing company secretarial post and assisting with tasks for the team’s company secretarial clients. This includes preparation of board minutes, Companies House forms and statutory registers;
• Preparing ancillary documentation for corporate/finance transactions and other corporate and finance related  matters;
• General research tasks;
• Completing online Companies House filings; and
• Assisting the team with compliance and file management tasks, including a range of general administration work as required (file opening, filing, archiving, copying etc).

The successful candidate will ideally have at least 6 months’ experience in paralegal work, though that need not be within a corporate team. We’ll expect a strong and consistent record of academic success, a high level of proficiency in IT/document production skills and excellent organisation skills. You’ll be able to demonstrate a strong intellect, excellent communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

Our Dispute Resolution & Litigation team boasts some enviable blue-chip clients and a caseload which includes complex domestic and cross-border disputes. We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Associate to work alongside two Partners, as well as a Consultant, a Legal Director, an Associate, a Solicitor, a Trainee (rotating) and a Paralegal.

As part of the team, you’ll build your experience working collaboratively on some challenging disputes while also running and building your own caseload.  The role offers a significant level of variety and interest.  You will work across a range of sectors and work-types, which may include professional indemnity, construction, breach of warranty claims and s.994 claims, commercial contract disputes, insolvency disputes, fraud, IP and international arbitration. Clients will span many sectors, including automotive, financial services, leisure, fisheries, logistics and FMCG.

You’ll need to be hard working, resourceful, responsive and resilient, with the ability to grasp new challenges and areas of law quickly and accurately.  You need to be able to provide pragmatic and commercial solutions tailored to a range of different clients.  You should have the ability to supervise and develop others and be willing to engage in peer-to-peer discussions with senior colleagues as part of a close-knit team.

We are looking for a Paralegal to provide support to the fee earners within the team. In this role you will assist Solicitors (up to partner level) on a range of family law cases. You’ll be involved in drafting applications for divorce, court documents relating to both financial remedy proceedings and children act proceedings, collating information relating to these applications and the preparation of court bundles. You may also be involved in other family issues from time to time. You’ll have contact with clients, barristers, solicitors, courts and other organisations. You’ll also support the team with some of the administration involved in their work to ensure the team provides an efficient and timely service. This may include client on-boarding checks, some filing and archiving.
