We’re growing our Commercial, IP & Technology Team and are looking for a talented solicitor to join us.  This is a key strategic hire to provide support to the Team Leader, to support the growth of the wider firm and to help shape the future of our Commercial Contracts practice.  If you have a strong foundation of at least 2 PQE (or equivalent experience) and are looking for a role with clear career progression – this could be the ideal next move.

    We’re seeking someone with a solid track record in commercial litigation. You may already be operating competently for your level of experience and ready to take that next step in a team that will support and challenge you.

    You’ll have experience in, or be willing to develop your ability to undertake, a broad mix of disputes, which may include:

    • Commercial contract claims
    • Insolvency litigation
    • Professional negligence
    • Breach of warranty claims
    • Post-termination restrictions
    • IP and cross-border disputes

    You’ll work collaboratively on larger matters and take ownership of your own caseload, with the opportunity to develop your practice and client base further.

    About the Role

    This role offers flexibility and can be tailored based on your interests and experience in contentious or non-contentious construction law. Key responsibilities may include:

    • Drafting and advising on standard form and bespoke construction contracts (including JCT and NEC)
    • Managing construction disputes via adjudication, arbitration, and litigation
    • Advising on professional appointments and collateral warranties
    • Providing guidance on compliance with the Building Safety Act and related legislation
    • Running your own caseload with appropriate support and supervision
    • Contributing to business development initiatives and client relationships

      Our Will Disputes & Contentious Probate team deals with a wide range of contentious probate matters with the team working closely with our Wills, Trusts and Estates team.

      Rarely for this area the work will be exclusively contentious probate litigation. The day to day caseload involves the full range of contentious probate matters including Inheritance Act claims for Claimants and Defendants, claims involving challenges to the validity of Wills, executor/administrator disputes (including removal of executor applications), estate administration disputes, Court of Protection disputes as well as the various types of trust disputes. You will be expected to run your own cases, as well as work with colleagues on large cases all whilst benefitting from supervision and support from the Head of our Will Disputes & Contentious Probate team who is rated as one of a small number of Leading Individuals by Legal 500 for contentious probate in the South East. You’ll also work together with other colleagues within the contentious and non-contentious teams.

      The candidate for this role will have 3-5 years of civil litigation experience including contentious probate work and ideally have had some experience of contentious probate and non-contentious private client work during their training contract or early career, but we welcome applications from any junior solicitor with litigation and contentious probate experience who is keen to work in a successful growing team in this specialist area.

      We are delighted to have made significant growth to our Agricultural and Rural Land team this year with the addition of a further leading expert and the addition of a senior paralegal on route to qualification in 2025.  We are now expanding our team even further.  We are currently looking to recruit a solicitor who can build their experience working collaboratively on rural matters, whilst also running your own caseload.       FSP’s Agricultural and Rural Land team brings together the knowledge and expertise of highly experienced lawyers to provide a diverse range of specialisms. The team is best known for its attention to detail balanced with a pragmatic outlook, whilst not losing sight of the overall commercial terms of the transaction in hand. The team is known for its approachability and straightforward advice on complex agricultural transactions.

      The wider Agricultural and Rural Land group consists of specialist Wills and Estates, trusts, litigation, family, corporate, partnership and employment lawyers.

      The role

      The role offers a significant level of variety and interest. You will work across a range of work-types, which will include more traditional agricultural property work, along with assisting clients with all manner of diversification projects. Clients will span many areas to attract your interest, ranging from farmers, landowners, investors, Universities and Colleges, advising on a whole range of agricultural and development work

      Day to day work includes on a wide range of matters connected with rural property, including sales and acquisitions of agricultural land and buildings, property development, investment work, renewable energy projects, drafting overage provisions, farm-related tenancies including succession rights and surrenders, wayleaves and easements, and more. You may also get involved in supporting the wider real estate team.

      You will receive good supervision and training, with the opportunity in time to build a name for yourself in a rewarding and varied discipline. The team will encourage you to get involved in business development opportunities as part of the team and firm generally.
