Our two-partner commercial dispute resolution team boasts some enviable blue chip clients and a caseload which includes complex domestic and cross-border disputes. They are currently looking to recruit an experienced solicitor/associate level litigator to support them. As part of the team you’ll build your experience working collaboratively on some challenging disputes while also running your own caseload of more straightforward cases.
The role offers a significant level of variety and interest. You will work across a range of sectors and work-types, which may include commercial contract disputes, construction, professional indemnity, insolvency disputes, fraud, IP and international arbitration. Clients will span many sectors, including automotive, financial services, leisure, fisheries, logistics and FMCG.
You’ll need to be resourceful, responsive and resilient, with the ability to grasp new challenges and areas of law quickly and accurately. You’ll benefit from support and career development from highly regarded and experienced partners and our senior associate and access to cases of a quality hard to find elsewhere in Reading. As you’ll be expected to work with limited supervision on your own cases, we expect you will already have accumulated at least 3 years’ pqe in commercial litigation before joining us. We’ll expect you to have an interest and, ideally a successful track record, in marketing and practice development. We are actively looking for a property litigation solicitor (or equivalent) to join our highly regarded Real Estate Team.
Being part of the largest Real Estate team in the Thames Valley gives our Property Litigation team access to a diverse and interesting range of clients and cases, including a significant number of developers and also a variety of corporate occupiers and private individuals.
You will in part support the team leader, Paul Dench, and the other senior members of the team, but you will mostly be managing your own broad caseload with appropriate support and supervision. For developers you may be advising on the enforceability of restrictive covenants and dealing with minor land rights affecting development including easements, drainage, rights of way and profit a prendre etc. You will be dealing with the recovery of land from trespassers, tenants and persons unknown; boundary disputes; adverse possession claims; contentious landlord and tenant issues, including the termination, surrender and renewal of commercial leases, rent reviews, break notices, lease forfeiture; rent and service charge arrears; service charge disputes; enforcement of securities on behalf of mortgagees and more. You may also find yourself providing advice and to the non-contentious departments as part of corporate and due diligence support.
You will be provided with plenty of training and supervision to help you develop your career in property litigation.
The role is offered on a full-time basis (35 hours/week) and we may be able to consider part-time hours for the right candidate.

Ideally, you will be a qualified solicitor or equivalent with at least 2 years’ pqe gained in property litigation, but your experience may be in a different type of litigation. Alternatively, you may currently be a non-contentious real estate lawyer looking to move into a litigation team. Providing that you have a genuine interest in moving into this area and can demonstrate the appropriate transferable skills, we can support you with a move into this specialist field
