Our Real Estate Team is one of the largest in the Thames Valley and prides itself on providing City quality work outside London. Our exceptional lawyers handle a wide range of property transactions – including the acquisition and disposal of interests in real estate on individual sites and property portfolios, planning, environment and construction work, landlord and tenant matters and taxation and finance issues. We also have a team specialising in property litigation work for commercial and private clients.
The role
As a paralegal in the team you’ll get great experience by assisting qualified lawyers across the transactional (non-contentious) teams. The role is more than simply helping them with administrative tasks, although some occasional admin work will be required. The majority of your time will be spent in client work including: reviewing and reporting on legal documents, undertaking research, preparing reports, drafting correspondence, undertaking company searches, client due diligence, on-line data room management, drafting and filing SDLT returns and assisting exchanges and completions on property transfers. You could find yourself working on any type of property work happening within the team. As your experience develops, you’ll have direct client contact and increasing responsibility.
We think it’s a great starting point to build a quality legal career. Candidates must have a strong academic record including, as a minimum, a 2.1 law degree and be able to commit to a full-time role. You’ll be able to demonstrate a strong intellect, excellent communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude.

The Role
Our residential property team is currently a team of 8 and is made up of 2 partners, a senior associate, an associate, a chartered legal executive, a conveyancing executive, an experienced senior paralegal and a junior paralegal. We are actively looking to recruit another paralegal to join the team as well.
We cover all aspects of residential property from higher value sales and purchases with complex title issues, right through to first time purchases. We have members of the team who have a great deal of experience in new build properties which everyone in the team has benefited from, particularly as for some this is an area that can sometimes prove a challenge. We have a specialist team who deals with lease extensions and enfranchisement that you would be welcome to participate in. This means there is rarely a transaction one might come across where someone isn’t able to provide guidance or support. Our work comes from a variety of sources such that the team works on some really interesting transactions.
We hope that you will want to get involved in some of the business development activities that the team gets up to, which can range from regular smaller events with our referrers of work or participating in some of the larger events organised by the firm. We regularly have in house training that we do as a team and everyone is encouraged to seek out their own learning via external training as well.

The role

Clients will span many areas to attract your interest and you will advise and assist on a wide range of matters connected with rural land including sales and acquisitions of agricultural land and buildings, drafting overage provisions, farm-related tenancy issues including succession rights and surrenders, wayleaves and easements, single farm/basic payment subsidy transfers, property development/investment work, renewable energy projects and more. You may, from time to time, also get involved in supporting the wider commercial property team. You will receive good supervision and training, with the opportunity in time to build a name for yourself in a rewarding and specialist discipline. The team will encourage you to get involved in business development opportunities as part of the team and firm generally.
