Within our highly regarded Wills, Trusts and Estates team we have a strong contentious probate practice that is going from strength to strength under the leadership of one of our experienced Legal Directors. With a rapidly growing caseload and reputation we now need to hire a solicitor into the team to support its continued development.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a burgeoning practice and develop a long term career in this specialist area. You’ll need to be able to hit the ground running so you must be able to demonstrate at least one year’s pqe as a solicitor (or equivalent) in civil litigation work – which should include a significant amount of contentious probate work.  You’ll support the Legal Director on her cases as well as begin to build your own caseload under supervision. To support the development of the practice area we’ll expect you to have strong client facing skills and the potential for, and interest in, getting involved in networking and business development activities.

You’ll be part of an extremely friendly and welcoming team with an impressive client base and we’ll help you to grow your skills and develop your own reputation in the area. There are strong prospects for career advancement and our firm has a clear track record on promoting people based on merit with rapid advancement based on performance and ability.

As a firm it is always important to us to nurture and support our people and this year we have invested heavily to support remote working. We have also introduced many adjustments to our premises to ensure a safe working environment for those who need/want to be in the office. Over the longer term we are committed to embracing a continued degree of home working and more flexibility in working arrangements to support our people with their changing lifestyles and expectations.

Our Family team is looking to appoint an experienced and ambitious solicitor. With at least four years’ pqe as a family lawyer you’ll already be familiar with a broad range of matters including matrimonial finance, private law children work and cohabitation disputes. You will be comfortable with, and adept at, advocacy work, ideally including proceedings concerning children.  You will have started to build your external reputation and a growing skill-set in practice/business development and be interested in developing this further.

Joining us you’ll be part of a busy, specialist team with an excellent reputation in the Reading area which attracts high-net worth clients and handles complex family disputes. We will support you with plenty of learning and development opportunities including the ability to learn from our two highly regarded family partners. We’ll also expect you to help guide and support the less experienced lawyers in the team. You’ll manage your own busy caseload with minimal supervision and be encouraged to build a strong name for yourself in the Reading/Berkshire area. There is definitely room to build your career over the medium term with us.

Our two-partner commercial dispute resolution team boasts some enviable blue chip clients and a caseload which includes complex domestic and cross-border disputes.  They are currently looking to recruit an experienced solicitor/associate level litigator to support them. As part of the team you’ll build your experience working collaboratively on some challenging disputes while also running your own caseload of more straightforward cases.

The role offers a significant level of variety and interest.  You will work across a range of sectors and work-types, which may include commercial contract disputes, construction, professional indemnity, insolvency disputes, fraud, IP and international arbitration.  Clients will span many sectors, including automotive, financial services, leisure, fisheries, logistics and FMCG.

You’ll need to be resourceful, responsive and resilient, with the ability to grasp new challenges and areas of law quickly and accurately.  You’ll benefit from support and career development from highly regarded and experienced partners and our senior associate and access to cases of a quality hard to find elsewhere in Reading.  As you’ll be expected to work with limited supervision on your own cases, we expect you will already have accumulated a minimum of 2 years’ pqe in commercial litigation before joining us.  We’ll expect you to have an interest and, ideally a successful track record, in marketing and practice development.
