The Corporate team at Field Seymour Parkes were delighted to advise the shareholders of Psychology Tools Limited (“PTL”) on the sale and investment backed by YFM Equity Partners (“YFM”).
PTL was founded in 2008 by clinical psychologist, Dr Matthew Whalley, and has since grown to be a leading online platform with a team of experts dedicated to delivering hundreds of resources to psychologists, therapists, counsellors, and other mental health professionals. PTL provides users with access to its contents including exercises, guides, and audio therapy resources as well as providing free mental health information to the public.
The investment round led by YFM signifies a promising future for PTL as YFM is committed to making a difference by expanding the team to support more people in the increasing demand for professional support tools in mental health services. In supporting the strategic development, Chris Berry has joined PTL as chair and Allan Oehlers as COO to work alongside Dr Whalley to execute a growth plan and optimise quality content and accessibility.
Speaking of the investment, Adam Hart of YFM said “Psychology Tools is a great example of a business that has flourished as a result of a founder’s passion and dedication. It has an outstanding reputation for quality content and accessibility.”
On working with FSP, Dr Whalley commented “the team at FSP provided invaluable advice and made the whole process easier by guiding us through every stage and explaining legal terms and concepts that we had not encountered before in a concise, plain English manner. By working professionally and collaboratively with the other side, the team were excellent in getting this deal over the line. I would not hesitate to recommend FSP.”
The team at FSP was led by Philip Stephenson (Corporate, Partner) and Penelope Garden (Partner and Head of Private Equity) with support from Alex Illingworth (Partner, Banking and Finance), Dan Barnhouse (Legal Director, Banking and Finance), Victoria Ounsworth (Solicitor, Employment) , Cathrine Ripley (Partner, Commercial and Technology), Amelia Calder (Trainee Solicitor, Corporate) and Sadaf Anwar (Trainee Solicitor, Corporate).
