About James Palmer

James has over 20 years’ experience advising on construction and commercial disputes, working alongside businesses of all sizes and individuals to resolve disputes in the fairest, fastest and most cost-effective way possible.

He has been involved in numerous high value court construction claims as well as adjudications. Being a member of the Adjudication Society, he has extensive expertise in the enforcement of adjudicator’s decisions and has acted in some of the leading cases in this field.

Some of James’ previous cases include:

  • Representing main contractor in a dispute with a local transport authority regarding Compensation Events under NEC3 ECC contract for works constructing a new railway station.
  • Loss and expense claim by a contractor for over £1 million against a major housing developer in respect of variations and delays due to developer, and counterclaim by the developer for alleged defects.
  • Acting for main contractor against a local authority in a dispute over the value of final account for installation of a district heating scheme involving delay/extension of time/loss and expense and variations.
  • Representing main contractor in three different claims relating to the part demolition and conversion of major London landmark building into a hotel, including loss and expense claims following a fire at the premises.

He also has wide experience of other areas of commercial dispute resolution including contract disputes, professional negligence claims, director, shareholder and partnership disputes and personal and corporate insolvency.
