The UK Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 – What Your Business Needs to Know

The Data (Use and Access) Act 2025 (DUAA) came into force on 19 June 2025 and marks a major shift in the UK’s data protection landscape. The DUAA aims to modernise and streamline data protection laws whilst maintaining alignment with EU standards to preserve the free flow of data between the EU and UK.

In this webinar, Commercial Solicitors, Haris Qureshi and Kiran Chita provided an overview of the DUAA, what the changes mean for businesses and practical tips for compliance, covering keys points such as:

• The UK Government’s approach to data protection reform
• Key changes introduced by the DUAA (e.g. a new lawful ground for processing, DSAR response times and simplification of the requirements for automated decision-making)
• Restructuring of the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) and changes to the ICO’s powers
• Timeframes for implementation
• Practical tips for businesses

The webinar concludes with a live question and answer session from the audience.
