There is an update within the Sponsorship Management System which changes the way in which Global Mobility Sponsors report any changes/updates to overseas linked entities.
The Sponsorship Management System (SMS) ensures that all mandatory changes to sponsored workers’ circumstances such as Key Contact’s details, organisational changes and replacement of Authorising Officers are reported within the relevant reporting timescales.
The platform also publishes messages about changes or updates to sponsorship generally. A Level 1 user should be checking the platform regularly. If any sponsor fails to report a relevant change within the timescales provided, this could result in action against the sponsor.
A recent notification on the portal relates to updating overseas sites for Global Mobility Sponsors reporting changes to their organisation. The Global Business Mobility routes are for workers based outside of the UK who are undertaking a temporary work assignment in the UK such as a Senior or Specialist Worker, Graduate Trainee, UK Expansion Worker, Service Supplier or Secondment Worker. This route is relatively new, having been introduced on 11 April 2022, and does not lead to settlement. The notification alerted sponsors to the changes made on 31 October 2022.
New functionality has been introduced to allow sponsors to use the SMS to record changes and updates to any overseas linked entities and service supplier contracts. There is a new function in SMS entitled ‘View overseas linked entities and contracts’ that enables sponsors to add, remove or amend such information. Service Supplier sponsors should use the same function to add, remove or amend details of service supplier contracts. This makes the old function, ‘Change of Circumstances – Other’ obsolete for these purposes.
