Many of our trainees complete work experience with us before starting their route to qualifying as a solicitor. When recruiting trainees one of the many things we look for is relevant work experience because it indicates a genuine interest in pursuing a legal career based on an appreciation of the reality of legal work. Our Work Experience Programme runs every summer, and our upcoming 2025 programme will cover four days, providing you with a diverse insight and experience of law in practice. The dates for 2025 will be made available in January 2025.

We are continually reviewing our work experience programme to ensure participants get the best experience in a practical and accessible way. To give you a feel of what to expect during the week you will spend time with our Corporate, Business Services, Commercial Property, Residential Property, Wills, Trusts and Estates and Family teams. As you can imagine, you’ll have an invaluable opportunity to gain a wide range of experience in different areas of law. You’ll be taking part in group activities, practical exercises, role plays, discussions and more. You’ll have the opportunity to network and really show your passion for law.
The four day programme will be held at our office in Reading, giving you the opportunity to really get a good experience of what life is like at FSP.

Applications for work experience placements are accepted from university students in their first year or above regardless of degree subject. Applications are made using the same form as for Training Contract Applications and if you are eligible to begin a Training Contract or Graduate Solicitor Apprenticeship within 2 years you can apply for both at the same time if you wish.
