Many of our current trainees have completed work experience with us before starting their training contracts. When recruiting trainees one of the many things we look for is relevant work experience because it indicates a genuine interest in pursuing a legal career based on an appreciation of the reality of legal work. If you are thinking of applying to Field Seymour Parkes for a training contract we would encourage you to apply for work experience here. It will give you the opportunity for first-hand experience of working with us.
Our Work Experience Programme runs from June to September each year. Generally, work experience placements are for periods of one week and are unpaid. Work experience students are placed in one of our teams and work closely with an existing trainee. During the placement our trainees will be responsible for assigning tasks to you. These tasks can involve anything from carrying out research to advising on legal problems and you may get to attend events or meetings. Other teams are encouraged to provide you with work so that you can experience as broad a placement as possible and we will try to reflect your interests in particular areas of law where possible. Your time with us is also an ideal opportunity to get to know our current trainees and to find out as much as possible about what it takes to become a solicitor.
