FSP help VMIC with the sale to Catalent of the national vaccine centre at Harwell

FSP has worked with Vaccine Manufacturing and Innovation Centre UK Limited since they first identified Harwell as a suitable site for the national centre for the research and manufacture of vaccines almost exactly 3 years ago. Michael Higgin and Gaye King (Real Estate) and Cathrine Ripley (construction) dealt with the acquisition of the land and the construction procurement documentation.  The project attracted urgent government funding and significant acceleration during the covid pandemic, and construction has progressed substantially quicker than similar projects in less ‘interesting’ times.

When VMIC decided that the time was right to dispose of the entire operation to the commercial sector, they engaged Eversheds Sutherland International to deal with the disposal but retained FSP to work with them to deal with the specialist property and construction elements of the sale process.  The disposal concluded in early March and Catalent Oxford is now taking forward the project to finish equipping and putting this ground-breaking research facility into operation.

Michael Higgin said that “FSP is very proud to have been a part of this nationally significant project, from such an early stage up to its release this year to new owners, to bring it to full fruition.  We have been perfectly placed to deal with a project like this, given our excellent working relationship with the owners of Harwell Science and Innovation Campus and their professional team, and our areas of professional expertise.”
