Thinking outside the box – can you dismiss for ‘some other substantial reason’?

HR problems don’t always fit neatly into boxes. If you are looking to part company with an employee, but it doesn’t feel like a redundancy, capability or disciplinary scenario, you may be able to rely on ‘some other substantial reason’ (SOSR) to justify a dismissal.

In this webinar we will explain how SOSR fits into the law on unfair dismissal, and discuss when and how you could utilise it, including in the following cases:

• a refusal to agree a change in terms of employment;
• a customer request that you sack an employee;
• a falling out or personality clash; and
• a romantic or family relationship in the workplace.

Do join us for an informative and interactive run through of how SOSR could help you and your business to chart a route through some tricky situations.
