Acting for landowners, we have exchanged a number of option agreements and completed a number of leases for photovoltaic (PV) solar and battery farms, including one classified as a nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP).
FSP’s Renewable Energy & Environment team have exchanged a number of option agreements and granted a number of leases for photovoltaic (PV) solar and battery farms in the last month, acting for our landowner clients.
One predominantly solar project is classified as a nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP). While some of the developers will be applying for planning permission through their local planning authority, NSIPs are large scale projects which are treated separately because of their size and importance to wider communities and require an application to be submitted directly to the Planning Inspectorate.
Totalling approximately 700 acres in size overall, all of the transactions were exchanged in time for the developers to apply for a “Gate 2” grid connection within the National Energy System Operator’s (NESOs) application window, which is due to close shortly. These applications are necessary to ensure that viable projects are “in line” to be connected to the main power grid as part of the ongoing grid connection reform process.
FSP’s Renewable Energy & Environment team are experienced in acting for landowners in negotiating option agreements for solar leases, as well as other documents necessary for renewable energy, the environment, utilities and infrastructure including wind farms, battery storage, anaerobic digestion facilities, rooftop solar, the extraction of mines and minerals, boreholes and EV charging facilities.
Hazel Eccles, Head of Renewable Energy & Environment team, led the transactions alongside Laura Czapski and Lauren Walker.
