Field Seymour Parkes has been acting for the last 12 months for The Vaccine Manufacturing and Innovation Centre UK Ltd (VMIC), which is very much in the news at the moment, in their acquisition of a site at Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
VMIC, a not for profit organisation, will provide the country’s first bespoke strategic vaccine development and manufacturing capability. A rapidly accelerated programme will aim to see the 7,000 m2 (footprint) state-of-the-art facility opening its doors in 2021, ahead of the original scheduled date in 2022.
Michael Higgin and Richard Higgs, both partners in the commercial property team, advised VMIC on the agreement for lease and the form of the long lease which they are taking of the site for the vaccine research facility, with help from associate Gaye King on title matters. Cathrine Ripley (partner) in the firm’s construction law team have advised on the development management agreement under which construction is being procured and on ongoing construction matters.
The article in PCB Today dated 21 April 2020 gives some further detail on the “construction” status of the project.
Harwell Science and Innovation Campus were advised by Paul Harbour at Kingsley Napley.
FSP is very proud to have been involved in such a substantial project, and which has now assumed such great significance in the last few months, which could not have been predicted when the project began.
